An Exploration of AI in Art & Society
This is an update to the Dada de Dada post AI’lure (4 Nov 2024) and we start with the podcast interview below (circa 12 minutes). For best results please use headphones or stereo speakers. Playing it on a single mobile phone speaker will just degrade the production.
Using three audio examples, the earlier AI;Lure post illustrated the progression of the poem from a solo voice to a poetic duo with sound design elements. It is this sound design example that is the focus of the podcast discussion above. It can also be listened to below. Headphones or stereo speakers will highlight its aural complexity.
The podcast discussion highlights how — in the sound-design version above — Dada de Dada had eschewed adding more complex rhythmic or melodic elements to the mix in case this detracted from the spoken word. For that was not the intention. After further experimentation, however, the version below emerged. Dada de Dada thinks this version still preserves the dominant position of the spoken word whilst the enhancements add value. This version incorporates an initially consistent driving beat which in a later part of the track diverges from that consistency.
Dada de Dada has now added an AI-generated audio overview to the ‘About’ section on page 2 the original AI’lure article. This audio overview is duplicated below as it will also feature in our developing discussion in this post. As before, headphones or stereo speakers are recommended.
This is a work-in-progress. More is pending imminently. So please return here for more insights.
